Why I love living at Alki Beach

When I first moved to Washington I was learning to fly over on the Peninsula. I worked for a small aircraft charter and Fixed Based Operator, and got to fly some of the dead legs back home after dropping off clients. My favorite was the flight back from Boeing Field, especially when we would fly over Alki Point. I visited once and dreamed of one day calling this place home. Finally years later, I got to move here! Nestled along the shores of Puget Sound, this beachside neighborhood isn’t just where I live; it’s where I’ve found a sense of belonging and endless reasons to smile. So, grab your flip flops and sunglasses, and let me show you why Alki Beach is so special to me.

Beach Vibes, City Life:

One of the things I love most about Alki Beach is its perfect blend of beach vibes and city life. Picture this: waking up to the sound of seagulls and the gentle lapping of waves against the shore, then hopping on my bike for a leisurely ride along the Alki Trail with the glittering Seattle skyline as my backdrop. It’s the best of both worlds – the laid-back charm of beach living with all the amenities and excitement of the city just a stone’s throw away.

Community Connections:

Living on Alki Beach feels like being part of one big, extended family. From the friendly faces I pass on my morning walks to the impromptu beach bonfires and picnics with neighbors, there’s a strong sense of community here that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether it’s lending a hand during beach cleanups or supporting local businesses along Alki Avenue, it’s heartwarming to see how everyone comes together to make our little corner of the world a better place.

Sunset Serenades:

Ask anyone who lives on Alki Beach, and they’ll tell you – there’s something truly magical about watching the sunset over Puget Sound. Whether I’m lounging on the beach with friends or enjoying a quiet moment of reflection on one of the seaside benches, there’s a sense of peace and awe that washes over me as the sky explodes with hues of pink, orange, and gold. It’s nature’s daily reminder to slow down, savor the moment, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.

Outdoor Adventures:

Living on Alki Beach means there’s never a shortage of outdoor adventures to embark on. From kayaking and paddleboarding in the calm waters of the Sound to hiking along the nearby trails of Lincoln Park, there’s always something new to explore and discover. And when hunger strikes after a day of adventuring, you can bet I’ll be heading to one of the beachfront eateries for some fresh seafood and a cold drink – because nothing beats dining with a view of the water.

Memories in the Making:

But perhaps what makes Alki Beach most special to me are the memories I’ve made here – the laughter shared with friends during summer bonfires, the quiet moments of solitude spent watching the waves roll in, the sense of joy that fills the air during community events and festivals. These are the moments that make life here feel like a perpetual vacation, where every day holds the promise of new adventures and cherished memories in the making.

So, there you have it – a glimpse into why I love living on Alki Beach in West Seattle. It’s not just a place to call home; it’s a lifestyle filled with sunshine, sea breeze, and endless opportunities for fun and connection. And if you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by – because there’s always room for one more friend on the beach.
